About Us

TCAT is a group of Texas volunteers from various professions and walks of life.

  • We are frustrated by the response of the Catholic Church to the ongoing crisis related to the clergy abuse of children and vulnerable adults. Despite ongoing revelations around the world and right here in Texas, the Church response continues to lack urgency or transparency, treating the crisis as a risk to be managed rather than as a pastoral failure to be recognized and repaired.

  • We believe that just, restorative healing will require sustained, transparent effort placing the well-being of the vulnerable and the previously victimized above all else.

  • We’ve tried since November of 2020 to engage the Diocese of Dallas in a discussion on this topic, made numerous proposals and waited patiently for a response or even an acknowledgement of receipt of our calls, messages, and registered mail correspondence. Various of our correspondence and proposals to the Diocese are contained in the Our Initiatives and Resources sections of this website. Thus far we’ve had no response.

  • Future prevention of abuse of the young and the vulnerable requires full transparency, continuous effort, innovation and involvement of the whole People of God -- clerics and laypeople alike. Without renewed and reformed effort, Church leaders must recognize we will never be “done” with this threat.
