We ask church leaders to acknowledge the clergy sex abuse problem, be transparent, and listen to suggestions from lay people.

Our Mission

To be a prayerful voice, attentive to the Spirit, through which the Faithful can actively participate in articulating, developing and implementing policies of the Catholic Church in the United States regarding the abuse of children and vulnerable adults by clergy and others.

TCAT will pursue the following specific goals:

  • To influence the response of the Catholic Church to the abuse crisis, in ways that improve accountability, increase transparency and promotes understanding and healing;

  • To support survivors of clergy abuse; and

  • To engage with other lay advocacy groups, and with the Diocese of Dallas

“I would like to express to the victims my sadness and pain for the trauma that they suffered. It is also my shame, our shame, for the incapacity of the Church for too long to put them at the center of its concerns.”

— Pope Francis, Oct. 6, 2021
